TITLE: The USA club
By Ann McDaniels

The USA club

The knock at the door interrupted dad in the study as he was toiling over bills, trying to borrow from Paul to pay Peter.

“Hello, I am here to see Ms. Molly Madison.”

“And you are?

“I’m Mr. Burns of Burns Boutique. May I speak with Ms. Madison?”

I heard dad call my name, so I rushed to see what he wanted. After exchanging pleasant greetings, Mr. Burns handed me a slip of paper, which read, “This certificate is to be presented by Ms. Molly Madison to Burns Boutique in exchange for an evening gown of her choice.”

Startled, shocked and yet swelling up with happiness, Molly looked from the check to her dad, to Mr. Burns, waiting for her dad to tell her what to do. Finally, she shouted simultaneously clasping her arms around her daddy’s neck.

“Molly, baby, you’re choking me! Mr. Burns, we don’t mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, but what’s going on, why are you giving this to Molly?”

“Well, all I am allowed to say is this was financed by the USA club”, said Mr. Burns.

“What’s that?”

“The Un-Selfish Act club,” stated Mr. Burns as he handed me their card.

“Daddy, can I keep the certificate?” asked Molly in her sweetest 2-year-old voice, looking like she just lost her best friend. “Please, please.”

“Why sure baby.” Mr. Burns could you please tell the USA club how much this is appreciated. This is a great financial burden off us. My wife’s medical bills have escalated three times faster in one month than my salary in one year.

“Molly, go give your mom the good news. She has been so worried about what you would wear to the prom.

By the time Mr. Madison made it back to his study, there was another knock at the door. This time the gentleman said, “I would like to speak with Mr. Robert Madison.”

“Yes, what may I help you with?” said dad.

“I’m Mr. Thomas of the Hollister Union Bank. I have a check for $30,000 made out to Robert Madison. I need you to sign here, sir.”

“You’re joking right? Is this a real check? Why? What’s the catch? If I sign this, am I selling my soul to the devil?

“No sir. The USA club would like you to have this, free of charge, no strings attached.”

“Oh, really?”

“Really, sir! Here, take it along with the USA card.”

Slowly dad grasped the piece of paper. He stared at it for a moment in unbelief. Until finally he shouted, “Thank you! Thank you, Mr. Thomas! Thank you, God. I don’t know how the USA club knew, but this is greatly needed.”

Dad ran upstairs to the bedroom where mom and I were. He was grinning from ear-to-ear. He could hardly get the words out. All he could say was “The USA club, the USA club” as he showed us the check.

That night at family time, I read aloud Mark 15 and 16 in my bible. It was about the founder/co-founder of the USA club. In summary I read that God wanted to once again communicate with his creation. He therefore allowed his son, Jesus the Christ to be crucified on the cross at Calvary to cleanse us of our sins and impute His righteousness upon us. Isaiah said it best in Isaiah 53:5 He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed (NIV).

The USA club really helped our family in a time of need. My prayer tonight is that everyone has a USA club mentality within their soul and that everyone gets to know the founder and co-founder of the USA club. Although we are born citizens of the United States of America or some other nation, all born-again believers are citizens of God’s Kingdom according to Mark 16:16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned (NLT).

The USA card read:
Meetings: As necessary
Motto: Matthew 7:7-11
Moral credence: Matthew 5:1-12
Members: John 3:5
Contact through PRAYER: Matthew 6:6

What a wonderful story!

You switched between "Molly" and "I" a few times, leaving me slightly disoriented. A minor fix.

You're a writer with considerable potential. Keep up the good work!

Very clever. It was touching. As I read, I was thinking about something begun on facebook. I don't remember the actual title of the group, but they refer to "random acts of kindness".
Well done.

If this is a true story, it is nothing short of amazing! Even if it is fictional, it is inspiring and a clever take on the topic! :)

This was truly great. It certainly shows the true Christian Spirit. It is more of a thrill for the giver than the recipient, when God reveals a true need.
