Subject: Reason for the Season
Where’s the man they talk about?
A man of hope and cheer.
They say he really loves the world,
and his spirit’s always near.
They say he knows us each by name,
and watches us all year.
He plans to give us each a gift;
A treasure we’ll hold dear.
Who is this man? Where is he now?
Surely he is great!
All the people hurry ‘round.
They worry they’ll be late…
They can’t miss his coming.
So, up above they stare.
Their houses look outstanding;
In all things they prepare.
Plates of food are left for him.
They say he’s come before.
He comes to them when they’re asleep,
and brings gifts that they’ll adore.
He dresses in a flashy red,
and has an enormous place.
He only comes but once a year,
and is gone without a trace.
Now flashy dress does impress,
and a large home’s fine indeed.
But who can say the gift we get
is really what we need?
The man that should be talked about
was born in a stable.
He had no fancy clothes at all,
But to free us He was able.
He never brings us shiny gifts.
These things don’t help us much.
The gift He gives is life itself,
and nothing beats His special touch.
Why forsake a holy day
by making a poor choice?
The season’s not for fantasies
but to worship and rejoice!
So, have a Merry Christmas
and be one to proclaim:
Jesus is the King of All,
and none can match His name!
