Amid the bustle of a 21st century Christmas season, the world seems to be faltering – stranded in a spiritual desert of conflict with only mirages of hope to grasp as war continues, Wall street fails, and sin reigns. Nations are skeptical of one another. Americans are unsure of their future. And Israel’s peace is far from them. With such bleak news, many people must struggle with what to believe in for their salvation. Sure everyone knows the traditional “Away in a Manger” and “Joy to the World” – but have they become just that – tradition? How many people at the town square who come to see the Christmas tree lighting really have a clue of how a Messiah was sent to change their lives? They’ve come to meet someone, but few have come to meet a Savior. Alcoholic beverages in hand, nearby laughter and chatting super-cede the chorus of “O Holy Night” before the joyous lighting of the tree and display of fireworks. This is an example of a heart that has ignored the plea of Almighty God to return to their Maker. Secularism continues to shove God out of the picture and leads unstable souls astray. Be this as it may, the LORD continues to call out, searching for souls to save. The Holy Spirit continues to draw men and women unto Himself. And God’s patience endures. So when a searching soul inquires of us the reason for the season, how should we respond? Is it a time for sharing with loved ones? A time for going to church? A time for resolutions of being a better person? Or is it about the lowly Christ child heaven sent on a mission to us? Perhaps the simplest answer one can give to “the Reason for the Season” question is that it is a “Season of Reason”. A celebration of a time when God looked down with mercy and grace from heaven and said, “I will forgive.” A time when God again made Himself approachable to mankind, taking away His wrath and extending His love through His Only Begotten Son. The beginning of the fulfillment of a prophetic word given hundreds of years earlier – the voice of Isaiah conveying the heart of God –“ ‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the LORD. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.’” Isaiah 1:18 NKJV

God is not willing should perish (paraphrase – 2 Peter 3:9), therefore He sent Yeshua as His Christmas gift to mankind . . .wrapped in a very tiny package of a new born Babe whose heart was engraved with the words of the Father, “I love you – please come home.”
