Zero breeze while our sweat smells a little game,
Telling old stories and jokes with the guys,
Burning smoke in my eyes and wild animal cries,
Up earlier than ever to go fishing at the lake,
Dropping the bait as somebody yells “SNAKE”,
No AC, TV, radio or even a cell phone,
Dad says “We’re out here to be left alone,
We’re here to learn how to live off the land,
Appreciating how our fore-fathers lived is grand”,
On a thin sleeping bag thinking - this is a boring,
Falling asleep to dad and big brothers snoring!
“Yeah dad, camping sure was great, can I sleep in ‘till 8?
Can’t wait ‘till next year, quick let’s pick the date.”
“Son, Learn to enjoy life while it’s all happening,
Get hope for eternal life & a new song to sing!
Ask Jesus to come into your heart,
Giving Him control is the hard part,
Our Creator and Savior knows what is best,
Trust Him by faith and He’ll care for the rest,
God will adopt and love you like His child,
Loving Him with all you got can be wild,
Loving others like yourself is the way to be,
It is the only way to experience life abundantly,
Absolutely nothing in this world compares,
to a relationship with our Creator who cares.
With an eternal perspective, at the pearly gate,
We’re sure to say, yes Jesus, life sure was great!”
Prayer:
Lord, Why do situations often look better in retrospect? Help us appreciate and enjoy our lives and the people in it now, not after they’re gone. Teach us to be content in all circumstances like Paul’s message to the Philippians tells us. Thank you for the knowledge that Jesus really does love us. Help us make Your Son the solid foundation of our lives. Help us enjoy and share the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
