Just a few more stitches and the blanket would be complete. I looked it over with a crafter’s eye and admired its beauty. The soft yarn in beautiful pastel colors was crocheted into squares and put together in a nine-patch pattern. Every stitch was made with love and prayers were lifted up for the baby who would soon be wrapped in it. This was no ordinary blanket; it was a gift for a king.

You see, Jesus, the King of the Universe, was born at Christmas. To celebrate his birth each December, we bring him gifts. You may wonder how this is possible since he is no longer walking the earth as a person, but it's really easy. Jesus said “Truly I say to you, Because you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:40 BBE). So to give to Jesus, we just give to one of the people he created and gave his life to redeem. Since I love to crochet, one of the gifts I’m giving this year is a handmade blanket for a young mother at a pregnancy crisis center. Her baby will need lots of extra love and prayers.

Jesus gives us so much love. He gave the first Christmas present when he left heaven and came to earth as a baby so that he could give his life as a perfect sacrifice to redeem you and me from our sin. He gave us all the talents and abilities we have. We can show our love for him by using those talents to bless others. I can just imagine his joyous smile as he receives his gifts from me this year. How about you?
