I couldn’t think of a single thing to write for the competition I thought of entering.

“It’s a dumb topic,” I told my son, “Can’t they think of something more meaningful?”

Five minutes later I began telling him this tale.

Merry Christmas.

It was extremely early on Christmas morn,
I was awakened with a yawn…

I suppose it was the cool breeze blowing through the open window, and under the fluttering curtain. I shivered and pulled the cover up, then lay there wandering through my thoughts.

It came to me suddenly, “Its Christmas!”

Wanting to be the first to open presents, I leapt out of bed and rushed to the top of the stairs, and tripped over Ginger, a very lazy, very fat cat.

“Aaargh!”

Thud,
Thud,
Thud,
Thud,
Thump,
Thump,
Thud,
Thump,
Thud,
Thud,
Thump.
--It’s a twelve-story building, you realize? --
Thump,
Thump,
Thump,
Thud,
Thud,
Thump.
Thud,
Thud,
And thud,
And thump.
--Pant puff pant pant. It’s tiring trying to make this up to one hundred and fifty words. –

Thud,
Thud,
Thump,
And thud.

“Uurgh,” I lay at the bottom of the stair well looking up through glazed eyes, and realized I could see the colorful lights of Christmas spinning slowly ‘round my sore head.

And that’s the best, or worst I could come up with.

God bless.

An entertaining way to make it up to the word count and keep it on topic!

I have to laugh at the way you showed us your thought processes. I could see the scene clearly. Nice work
