One of the things I liked about Christmas when I was a child was the Christmas Tree. We had an artificial tree, that my dad and I put together the tree in our basement. Then he would bring it upstairs to our living room.
While dad was good at constructing the tree, my mom helped me decorate.
The first thing we would put on is the blue blinking lights. The tree was big enough to accommodate two sets of lights. I always loved watching the different sets blink at different times. I still have the same lights, but the tree I have now is so small I don't need the extra set.
How may trees today have stringed tinsel? Mine did when I was a kid, and I have kept that same tradition going.
Some kids were in Boy Scouts; well I was in Indian Guides. On one of our adventures we painted a wooden Santa, snowman and a Christmas tree. They still have a place on my tree.
My two favorite decorations are round cones that are like glass balls. They have ridges that go from top to bottom. If you asked my why I like them, I would have to tell you "I don't know." I just think that they are cool.
I also have the clear beaded Christmas wreath decoration. The beads are mostly green but there are four sets of red beads are with in the wreath. It also has a red velvet wired ribbon on top.
My grandma liked to sew. She was always sewing something. She made two sets of small gloves out of felt; a string connects the two gloves. They have a wreath on them There is one set that is green and one set that is red
That is just a few things about this unique tree. The decorations are priceless to me and bring back so many memories for me when I was a kid. What is cool I may have changed through the years, but my Christmas Tree has not.
