Suddenly the season is upon us
Negation firing blunderbusses
Aimlessly striking all in the path
Political perdition awaits the wakened wrath
Carnage political, lives destroyed
Rapacious news cycles, devouring rumors
Antagonizing antipodes despoil truth unalloyed
Candidates rue debacles, desolated humors
Kangaroo court verdicts convict old indiscretions
Liars are buyers in the bazaar of elections
Elevated discourse invites swift destruction
Actions are ground through distorting lenses
Never in time are found convincing defenses
Daily the over wound clock advances
Punishing schedules push matters along before they can be addressed
Onward, always onward, and faster is the campaign pressed
Patient explanation, clarity, charity, overtaken and undressed
Should we never offer praise?
Never extend grace?
After the voters have spoken we must
Piece together what has been broken
Could this be the way
Royalty intended?
All this petty time in the fray
Congealed positioning unbent
King of Kings had something to say
Love and mercy and grace
Extended to all
Armies of the
Night
Disputing right
Patiently we
Offer
Prayer
Lest we too, snap
