I write a lot of stories
That I think are not too bad.
And when I enter in a contest
It seems I’m being had.
I write on many subjects
That may cover the entire map.
And when I see my placement
I think my mind will snap.
The stories tell some form of truth
And rhyme all the way through.
Their purpose is to inspire hope
And take away some blue.
I do it all in story form
With inspiration from above.
Then try to leave the reader
With a feeling of God’s love.
For most of them the Lord inspires
And in 20 minutes are a wrap.
They make you smile and think a lot
So I hope your mind won’t snap.
When writing for a contest
And the topic is not mine.
They do not flow as easily
As when God sends me His line.
I better now move forward
And not think my writings crap.
I thank God for His encouragement
For I know His mind won’t snap.
So I encourage all you writers
When with the winners you don’t find.
Please don’t be discouraged
And think you’ve lost your mind.
