If God challenged you to a friendly game of Truth or Dare would you choose to speak the truth or take the dare? Ultimately, the question is which do you fear more, the revealing of truth in your life or the call to action? The fact is, both are vital to our spiritual health and vitality as Christians.
Live the Truth
Isn't it funny that we somehow think that we can hide the truth about our hearts from our savior? We must remember that God already knows the truth of our heart. The real admission of truth is to ourselves. God made us, we’re each perfect the way we are! Now that’s a truly amazing truth to grab hold of! If we would each just turn our hearts towards God He can deal with even the most atrocious truths in our lives. We don’t have to face them on our own, we weren’t created to work that way. God - ever-present, patient and quiet, waits for us to yield to him and allow him to complete the good work he’s started in us.
God made us each to be uniquely ourselves. Not a single one of us is a ‘cheap knockoff’ of another. We were each specifically designed for an eternal purpose, a great purpose, a rewarding purpose. God longs for us each to prosper using the gifts he gave us. Unfortunately, many of us spend so much time trying to develop the gifts we see in others in ourselves instead of using our own talents. Each of us has our own treasure to share if we would only seek it and use it.
God already knows the truth of your heart - no sense in hiding it. So throw off the burden and concern for what the world thinks of you and embrace the love God has for you right where you are. Pick up the treasure God’s placed in you and start living life to the fullest. Truth will rush out like a radiant beam for all to see. God’s goodness will be reflected in you!
Dare to Answer God's Call to Adventure
God calls us daily to take his ‘dare’ and step out in obedience and reap eternal rewards. It often seems scary to boldly follow where God calls us, but he created us each to live a life of adventure! There’s no better adventure than following God’s plan. We often think if we even slightly open ourselves to God’s plan for our life he will instantly be calling us to sell all we own and move to some war-torn, third-world country to minister to the lost. However, that is not the way of our compassionate God. God understands our fears and our desires and allows us to work through them one step at a time. If God plans for you to move to some remote place and minister to people there – he will first put the desire in your heart. If you don’t have the desire, you probably don’t need to pack your bags just yet. He has other plans for you. Plans specifically suited to the unique person that you are. God equips us each step of the way for the journey to come. Naturally, that doesn’t mean following God will be easy or without struggle and strife – quite the contrary sometimes. God’s top priority is not always keeping us from pain but his top priority is always to grow us and to prosper us, which sometimes means allowing us to suffer hardships and endure trials. We can follow knowing he’ll never give us more than we can handle. Follow him, take the dare and let the adventure begin – you won’t regret it!
Thankfully, our all-knowing Lord and Savior meets us where we are and never asks of us something we're not capable of giving - whether it be in the form of truth or action. Certainly, God calls us to face difficult realities and trials in our lives but in His perfect timing. God's call to action is always perfectly suited to our ability to step out in faith - while it may be out of our comfort zone, it will always be within our abilities to take the next step in response to God's call to action.
Praise God today as you live life True to the person God created you to be AND take the Dare to embark on the adventure God's called you to live out today!
