I fear deeply we no longer have the mind or soul it takes to see things happen as they should. In prayer, for example, it is often expected in an earthly sense that what we want for ourselves and others will be as immediate as we think it should. What most fail to see is that God's plans and our prayer's may have different definitions. For example there was recently a family in the news that was camping when a large storm front came upon them without notice. The winds blew a massive tree down which fell on their children's tent, killing a 4 year old boy instantly and critically injuring their nine month old baby girl who later passed. I was so saddened by this and prayed to God to help the family through this time and give them guidance. What the Lord actually did for them I will probably never know, but in answer to my prayer He took away the pain I was feeling about the situation. The saying, "God works in mysterious ways" may be a cliche, but I believe the mystery is expecting one thing and receiving another which is totally UNEXPECTED. This is the way our Lord works. He connects events to create an outcome. He strings occurances together that we can reflect back on when the final result has been achieved. Wanting something immediately may not be the best way to receive answers to our prayers. God knows what is the very best for us in all situations. If we trust Him as we should, the patience with which we await the answers will be worth the end result.
