The water looked inviting,
So I decided to jump in,
But then I began to sink,
Brought under by my sin.

As I looked all around
These thoughts came to me,
Will someone come my way?
Will someone even see me?

I felt panic set in,
Not knowing what to do.
I searched all around me,
Found nothing to reach out to.

I could not save myself.
Of that much I was sure.
I could not help but wonder,
How long can I endure?

A lifeguard approached me
And he reached out a hand.
He picked me up and carried me.
Placed me safely on the sand.

As we began to talk
On that day along the shore,
I was amazed by Him
And longed to know Him more.

Though it was long ago,
I still cherish that day.
I was saved from my sin.
The Lifeguard came my way.

“…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you…” Isa. 43:1,2 (NIV)

Very nice, clean and tidy. The orderly thought and rhyme led me along nicely to the perfect conclusion!
