TITLE: Click... and Be Still
By Coleene VanTilburg

"Be Still and know that I am God"

"Be still? Yea, right...where is the remote?...Oh, What's on ESPN...click...ESPN2...click...Oh here's "Dirty Jobs"...click.
When is mom coming home? What time is it? click...Gotta pick my players for Fantasy Football. click...Hope mom will put it on her credit card. click...should call Nate, see if he has picked his players yet...click...I'm hungry, what's to eat around here? Nothing ever good to eat around here. I guess I could make a sandwich... (gets out bread, opens and leaves on counter along with half a glass of milk, never finishes sandwich). I want to order a pizza...where is the dog? Come here puppy! Where's the phone? (calls dad at 11:00 in the morning). Dad, when are you coming home? I want Del Taco."

"I'm at work...I'll be home when I usually get home... about 4ish...call your mother...I'm busy...Have you taken your medicine? What have you been doing all day? Have you made those appointments you should be calling on?" ...click

"Your son is on line 1..."

"Hello, Mom...where's my red shirt?"

"Probably where you left it."

"Very funny, mom. Can you bring me some Del Taco?"

"I'm at work. Make yourself a sandwich." click...

"Be Still and Know that I Am God."

"Why does that keep popping in my brain? Where's my pills? ...I need a Xanax. How many do I have left? Where's the remote? ...click...My chest hurts...click...Where's the X-Box? ...Gotta put my teams together...where's the newspaper...and my magazines?...click...Wish I could go to the bar tonight. When did I take my last Xanax? I should get that girl's phone number...click...When is dad coming home?"

"Be still and know that I am God."

"Oh, here's my shirt. I'll do some wash. That will make mom happy. (He gets some clothes, goes to the washing machine, puts them in with detergent, but is distracted by the dartboard). Ooh...almost a bulls eye..."(throws more darts for next few minutes, goes back in house without ever starting washer). The dog has gotten out.

"Come on...get in this house...you know you're not suppose to run in the street... where is the remote? click...(heart is pounding).
My chest hurts." click...turns on mom's stereo.

...and the verse of the day is from Psalm 46:10... "Be still and know that I am God."

"Be still and know that I am God?" GOD...you made me! I am ADHD with anxiety on the side!...Be Still...is not in what I do! It's boring!

Click... God whispers: "Yes, I did make you. Fearfully and wonderfully. Just think about me...talk to me when you are anxious. I listen. Next time you want to take that Xanax, say a prayer instead. If you concentrate on me, even for a minute and your heart is pounding...I promise to slow it down, take your burdens, help you to listen. You now the massages your mom gives you to help you relax? Let me massage your soul. We can work on this together."

"I'm so tired God. I need to rest...I need to concentrate on just one thing...and I know it is You.

Hey...I did it! ...I know...I know that He is God!"

This is certainly a very different story. I was getting caught up in all that rushing from here to there. I liked the last paragraphs the best. Good job. ^_^
