"How beautiful you are, my darling, how beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves."
Song of Songs 1:15
Dove's eyes have no peripheral vision. They are single-eyed, looking faithfully ahead. Distractions are a rarity for one with eyes like a dove. In chasing the King of glory, dove's eyes are a necessary element for the believer to carry. Having intent attention in one's pursuit of Jesus is necessary in all respects.
Jesus is craving a Bride with eyes like a dove. He has a way of pulling our attention to Himself. He longs for those who will stare into the mystery of Him with fascination deep within the core of their being. And this is what dove's eyes speak of: focused fascination.
Prayer:
Father of glory, may our hearts be overwhelmed with wonder towards the beauty of Your Son's transcendent holiness. May the eyes of our hearts be as dove's eyes, carrying about no peripheral vision, but single-eyed upon Jesus. With eyes like a dove, may we consider Him. May we be focused and intent on finding Him whom we love.
