Blessed With Beaches
I love feeling the warm wet sand squenching up between my toes, and letting it sift smoothly between my fingers. My memories are reflections on water, like the ones I continue to see, while standing on the sandy banks of Coal River, WVa. " Almost heaven."
It was a childhood dream growing up in the hills of WVa. where we had quite a few beaches washed up from the Upper Falls area. It was the only beaches we knew, and they were our own private swimming holes. They never "belonged" to anyone in particular, but they will always be a part of those who grew up there.
Back in the day, the Church I attended didn't have a baptistry. So, immediately after service was over ( that might have been 12 or 1am) for the Holy Ghost moved in such a mighty way, we'd all go down to the river, with flashlights, car lights and even candles. We'd be singin', "Let's all go down to the river, there's a man walking on the water!" and all the "Glory, Glory, Hallalujah" songs they could muster.
There on the beaches, the beautiful banks of Coal River, angels in heaven were rejoicing over the souls that had given their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. I felt that the Lord was truly walking on the water those days and nights. As we were standing by the shore, the glory of the Lord shined on every one of us.
We had a great crowd of witnesses, and the good neighbors never complained. As the pastor baptized folks in the beautiful name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for remmission of sins, the sweet annointing of the Spirit poured over us. I was sure it was felt, for miles around.
It seemed as we openly worshipped, and our faith was just "out there" as stars shining brightly through the moon-lit night, and not confined to insulated brick buildings and comfort of padded pews--all the more came to know the Lord, as we knew him.
We are so blessed with beaches.
I believe if Abraham could have stood there with us, he would see the 'promise' God fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The Lord 'promised' Abraham, that he would multiply his seed, as the sand of the sea, and as the stars in the sky.
In comparison, all the sand came up out of the sea, and the stars are in the heavens.
Abraham was blessed with beaches.
