When I read the title of this week I remembered straight away a moment in my childhood life when I used concentration so much it hurt ! My dad one day gave me this book that was about being able to move objects with your mind if you concentrate.
As a 12 years old this sounded fantastic! I could impress my friends at school, I could move things away from my sister without her noticing me, I could take cookies from the jar without going in the kitchen, the possibilities were endless.
I was so determine to do it, (I was very gullible as a child).
I use to close my bedroom door, sit on my bed with my legs cross and get ready to concentrate and stare at a chosen object.
I thought that I better start small as obviously my powers would be weak at first but will build up with practice. I started to concentrate on a little statue that I had on my windowsill, I use to stare at it with the command in my head to move over to my desk. I use to stare and concentrate so much it hurt ! Of course nothing ever happened. I changed objects, changed of room, changed of position, nothing !
After a while I gave up I was defeated. What made me laughed not so long ago is when my oldest son found my old book on our book shelves in the living room and said:
“Mum! Why didn’t you tell me we had this book! Brilliant! I’m going to be able to do so much things! “. He went up running to his room to practice.
Things never change, I think we are all attracted by the idea of a bit magic in our life, and why not ?
