Leader-Maker

A failure, an outcast, he comes to you
An alien, a stranger he’s ever so blue
A prince without a future, oh, that is true
A shepherd he becomes, as you are too

Your lovely daughter you give him in marriage
In a land where he’s lost his pride and courage
Defeated, disillusioned and discouraged
What a wise way for you to encourage

He serves and he lives and he shepherds your sheep
He listens and he learns of the God who’ll keep
To him God appears in a bushy-flame fire
The Holy One speaks and he listens in dire

He argues; he excuses to the God who calls
Send someone he says; he pleads and he stalls
Refreshed, revitalized, renewed in Him deep
He’ll venture, he’ll climb no matter how steep

Goodbye does he say to answer the call
You wish him well and bless him your all
Your daughter, your grandchildren they’ll all go with him
Your heart breaks yet hopes, for it hopes all in Him

He divides the sea as he raises his staff
He prays and he pleads; he mediates on their behalf
He leads; he governs; he protects and he serves
He gives them the Law and the life that he loves

The greatest of men, great as he is
He’s patient with Israel; cool as a breeze
Lawgiver, a leader; a servant, a prophet
A meek man of God – who will ever forget?

You’re a failure no more as I come to you
An outcast no more, to God’s bosom true
I, Jethro, have seen you and rejoiced in your days
I, Jethro, have known you and praised Him in your ways

(Based from the book of Exodus with a highlight on Jethro’s role as a father-in-law of Moses, the man of God. Exodus 2:15-3:1 and 18:1-27.)

This is great! I love it even more to know that it's Moses's FIL here. The title and the flow of the verses are just right. My fave verse was the first one though. Good job! ^_^

I appreciated the POV you shared here - it is a creative idea to write from Jethro's perspective!
I would encourage you to watch your rhymes - some of them sound a little forced and artificial...
Keep up the good work!
Blessings,
Ben
