All his life he longed to be a father,
And so it came to pass.
The proud father of 5 children.
Overjoyed as each one was born.
As the Father in Heaven wept tears of joy.

They grew up under the scorching African sun
And one by one they died.
Needlessly killed by unnecessary poverty
Murdered by a lack of compassion
As the Father in Heaven wept tears of sorrow.

And if we should meet that father,
What would we say?
For our nation was the murderer
Who needlessly shed the blood of his children
Our lack of compassion killed each one,
Recklessly wasting their lives
In pursuit of our comfort and happiness.
Not for them the joy of fatherhood.
They never had a chance.

And still the Heavenly Father weeps.
For where is His Church
Why did they not cry out,
On behalf of the poor.
Yet in His great mercy
He gives us a chance
To stand up and be counted
To make a difference
To Make Poverty History.

the brutal reality of the curse of sin on our earth sometimes hurts more than we can bear.

You are a talented writer. You write with alot of feeling and bring strong responses from your readers. You are right, we, the Church need to step up to be Christ in the world. Keep writing. I believe God will use your gifts to bring His truth to those dark places in the human heart.

Wow! Tying the first two stanzas together with the tears the Father sheds...beautiful! Christians in our country have a lot to learn about true sacrificial giving, not just to the point of inconvenience but until the hurt brings about true empathy with the needs of others. Well done!
