September eighteenth, ninety-three
This is what the doctors told me
Your mom has cancer in her throat
Ití in stage four, I now must note

Doctors had said mom would not last
From here on out things would go fast
We can not do too much for her
Thatís when my mind started to blur

I sat there and stared out in space
With no expression on my face
My brainís in shock I can not think
Those words my brain just would not drink

Wanda spoke up we canít tell mom
Now is the time to keep her calm
I told Wanda I would not lie
The truth to mom we must supply

All twelve of us went in her room
And on our face, she saw the gloom
Mom quickly put us all at ease
She showed again her expertise

Mom said she knew right from the start
She knew the truth down in her heart
Said, God is with us - understand
Against this cancer we will stand

Mom stayed with us another year
And when she left we saw so clear
Upon a cloud my mom did stand
She waved good-bye with her right hand

We all saw this and had to smile
For God took Mother home in style
Fourteen years has now come and gone
Still in my mind that visions strong

Oh wow! I can relate to this so much as my own mother is facing the end of her life.Yet, we are praying and standing on the Word. Ny heart goes out to you. I can't imagine life without my mom. Right now the positions have changed and now I am caring for my prescious mom. Lord bless you and may the wonderful memories she has given you stay with you until you see her one day. Hugs! Janice

Beautiful. I had tears in my eyes at the end.

Great rhyme here! The pace, the story and everything. I loved the calmness of the mother. Wonderful. ^_^

Losing someone to cancer is a tragic time, but knowing they are going to heaven gives much comfort. You captured the hope of that in this poem. You had some great lines such as "Mom quickly put us all at ease, She showed again her expertise" They flowed nicely. However some lines didn't match up as well, you lost some flow in these lines I thought "My brainís in shock I can not think
Those words my brain just would not drink"

I like this poem. You've clearly described the hope your mom had as all of you faced her passing away. Great!

What a nice way to give tribute to your mom.

Although I'm not a big poetry fan, this one did touch my heart. It spoke the truth about your pain in a poignant manner. I enjoyed this one very much.
