Awakening I See

Rushing into his open arms to feel the warmth and love, I am searching in his eyes for the twinkle of excitement for the hidden prize he carries in his coat pocket. Strong arms lift me until I am soaring in the clouds; laughter fills our every breath. I reach into his pocket finding a beautiful trinket, thoughtfully selected for me.

Understanding warmth glows from his face, as I see he is pleased with the small image of himself, wound through the curls surrounding my face. Precious words of praise flow like sweet syrup from his lips as he reassures me, “You are a priceless beauty to behold”. I know I am a special gift to him.

The ever-strong being carries me, instructs me, chastens me, and searches for only the best to ensure balance. No harm can pass the protective shield set for me; only this comes from an unwavering dedication and promise. Daily triumphs of my obedience stir immeasurable pride within his chest as if to burst from fullness.

Tears from the heartaches of growth fall upon his shoulder. Reassurance of better outcome resounds from his calm and sure stance; sturdy resolve is put into place. Strength of character builds from support and direction; there is no void.

Struggles against ruled boundaries begin to rise; tension fills my daily life. He has groomed me to express myself and stand my ground for causes with purpose. The figure of this man I follow, desire to be similar to, and love, remains peaceful and calm in each directive given.

Rest flows easily through the fabric of his life; rage is nonexistent. He read the bedtime stories for all the years I would allow, nighttime prayers, hugs and kisses blessed each day’s ending…

Drifting slowly out from the fog of sleep, light begins to awaken me from my drowsy thoughts. I realize now, and for all days to come, he is the dream of my needs in life, yet this is not my father.

Your words are so descriptive I would have loved you to use the entire 750. The second paragraph from the end is my favorite.
