Born to a woman that did not want her, who gave her away one summer night
Her mother had no use for a baby that was not perfect without hearing or sight

The church group would soon be out so she drove the baby over to there
All swaddled in pink she lay her down on the step uttering a silent prayer

Please give her a good safe loving home with someone who has a better heart than me
I cannot deal with this baby she has problems, for I would not be a good mom you see

Then she left walking the other way letting a series of teardrops fall from her eyes
Twila felt it best to give her baby to someone else and say her bittersweet good byes

Danielle was standing twenty-seven years tall in the church she was left in that night
A kind couple took her home, both thought she was a precious and beautiful sight

They raised their baby blessing in a Christian home with lots of love and tender care
To Danielle they were her loving parents, she was thankful mom and dad were there

She lifted her hands high in worship to her King the one who was the ruler of all things
Melted warmly into her heart were the many promises of wondrous blessings He brings

So much Danielle still did not understand like why her parents had to suddenly die
A car crash killed them instantly two years ago often she couldn’t help asking God why

Her parents had Pastor Al put the sermon on video projector for the past several years
As she sat there in silence listening in her own way, she could not help the flow of tears

Her parents had taught her there is always hope for tomorrow even when life was rough
Using sign language her mom told her that life could get really hard and quite tough

She also said no matter what happens in life, always remember to worship and pray
Speak loudly from the inside for he knows your heart, in his arms you will safely stay

The pastor was teaching this morning about Jesus guiding each of our steps one by one
He concluded his message saying perfect love casts out all fear through God’s own son

God had kept all His promises to Danielle and showed her His love these past years
She knew her parent’s were happily dancing in heaven, free of earthly pain and tears

One day she will see them along with meeting Jesus, until then she walked for Him
Working at the school for the deaf with young children her hope shouldn’t grow dim

Yes she was deaf, couldn’t speak out loud and she missed her mom and her dad
Still her life was good, Danielle was very thankful for bountiful blessings she has had

Her thoughts stopped with the brush of a touch from a person who sat down beside her
Danielle looked over at the woman who was about twenty years older than she for sure

Their eyes locked for a moment before the woman seemed to have something to say
Concentrating on the movements of her mouth, she listened in her own silent way

Could it be she didn’t read the lips right, was this really her real mom from the past?
Then again the woman said something that seemed to be “I am sorry for leaving you”

“You are my mom?” Danielle silently mouthed the words, her heart loudly fluttering
“Yes I am, I hope you can forgive me ” her mom seemed to be despondently muttering

“Mom I forgave you a long time ago, I have had a good life now you are finally here”
“God’s perfect love never fails, he gave me a nice family to love me year after year”

Danielle finished silently mouthing the words hoping it was understood what she said
She knew this moment God was fulfilling his plan to give her a hope and a future ahead

Lord how can my daughter forgive me after I abandoned her because of my fears
What I did in the wilderness of that time has haunted me for all of these long years

Twila was thankful for her daughter’s forgiveness after what she had regretfully done
It was just one year ago that she gave her life over to Jesus Christ the true healing one

There's a lot of life lessons packed in this poem You've given a lot of thought to the topic and shown that actions do speak louder than words.

WOW! I'm so impressed that you put this whole story to rhyme! Great job! Would've fit next week's topic, too. :)

Very impressive that you were able to rhyme the whole story.

The only thing that confused me was how you said at the very beginning that her mother had no use for a baby that wasn't perfect without hearing or sight. I took it that she couldn't see or hear, and then later I got the impression that she could see just not hear. It may have just been my misinterpretation though.

Thank you for sharing this story.
