“All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16,NIV

“WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT! ENTER INTO THE JOY OF YOUR MASTER! COME SEE YOUR LIFE**, LISTEN TO THE PRAYERS++…”

++“Thank You, God, for Matt. He’s always so honest; he acts on his conscience. He’s led me to You.”

**++“ALL RIGHT GOD! I give up. I’m Yours, totally. You’ve been calling me so long, I know I just have to give in. Use me, as You Will. Jesus, please forgive my sins.”

++“Thank You, God, for my dad. He stood by me, even when I did everything bad, hurting him and myself. Because of him, I saw You. Please may he give in to You, find the peace I’ve found.”

++“Please God, keep calling my husband to You. Don’t let him die until he belongs to You. I know You’ve had Your hand on him his whole life. May his integrity impact others, use him mightily in Your Plan. Bless his relationship with his daughters. Sometimes the pain of his past makes him lash out in anger. May he not pay in eternity for the things he’s done. Please heal him.”

++“Dear God, I know I was a terrible father to Matt and my other kids. Forgive me. May my sin not be visited on my children. Bring them to You.”

++“As I die, God, I pray for my son. I tried my best as his mother, but never taught him about You. Please may he find You.”

**“I know God is my conscience - I remember Him when I feel it. I don’t know anything about that Bible stuff, and there are so many hypocrites that call themselves Christians. I don’t want anything to do with that.”

++“Please God, bless our marriage, and my husband. May we be able to provide a family for our children – both ours and his – so they will know You.”

**“Before I marry you, remember I have a daughter I won’t leave. I’m going to stand by her – unlike my father did with me. I’m the kind of father I am because I won’t be like him. I don’t know how, but I always knew that a man shouldn’t be the way my father was. It was like a whispering deep down inside – my conscience. I’m never going to lie to my kids; I’m always going to show up when I promise I will. I don’t have a lot of money, but I will always provide. I’m going to walk in there and be her father, even though her mother doesn’t want me, and calls her new husband Alissa’s dad.”

**“Why am I still awake, walking around and alive? I took all those sleeping pills, and drank that whole bottle of whisky. I should be unconscious, but I can’t even go to sleep. It hurts so much to lose my daughter – I want to escape, hide. I don’t want to face my life.”

**My dad wants me to fight, not be a wimp. The other night he took me to a bar and cheered me on while I fought that gang. Tonight I had to fight him, to get him off my stepmother.”

**“My uncle is a ‘minister” - he sleeps with women in the church, then gets up and preaches. I hate church.”

**“Dad said we’d go somewhere today. Then he drove up with all HER kids, said THEY were going to the zoo. Why doesn’t he want to be with ME?”

**“The judge told me to choose between my parents. How can I?”

**“SMASH! Ketchup dripping from the wall above the TV. They’re always fighting, I’m always scared.”

**++“Ma’am, you have a son. He’s very small and premature. Only God can save him. Please God, watch over this boy.”

“I AM GOING TO MAKE A MAN – HE’LL BE CALLED MATT. HE’LL BE HONEST, AND HAVE NO PATIENCE FOR HYPOCRISY OR LIES. HE’LL GROW UP WITHOUT CHRISTIAN INFLUENCE, BUT I WILL STRENGTHEN HIS CONSCIENCE SO HE’LL ALWAYS KNOW ME. I WILL INSPIRE MANY TO PRAY FOR HIM; HIS PAIN AND RESPONSE WILL HELP DEFEAT SATAN’S POWER IN HIS FAMILY. WHEN HE JOINS US, WE WILL REJOICE FOREVER; HE’LL FINALLY REALIZE MY GREAT LOVE FOR HIM.”

There seems to be a number of different people talking here and giving their experiences. I note no Christian influences for Matt.

A good start, interesting dialog, but hard to discern.

Okay, maybe it's me but I did not get "birthday" out of any this. Very dark and negative, interesting though for a writer.

Great choice of scripture for "birthday." I would have liked to see expansion on that verse in your article. I seemed to be a little confused and lost as the dialog appeared to switch from person to person and the characters weren't clear. Next time, focus on only a few at most to zero in on the meaning of your story. Keep writing, though. You obviously have much going on inside your "writers" brain! Thanks for sharing. :)
