The suns rays cut into the asphalt like laser beams in a science fiction movie. It was 199 degrees, and frying eggs on the dash of Pops’ Chevy Impala was out of the question, because the poor car had been incinerated a few mornings ago by light shooting across the horizon at 6:34am. Some of the houses around us, along with many of our friends suffered the same fate.
It was snowing around this time last year, and a week from now it would be Christmas. This was Long Island for heaven's sake! The entire North Eastern Region had not seen temps below the 100 degree mark yet, and this was a record day. It was nothing like the winters I remember as a kid.
In stark contrast to the fires flashing into existence on neighbors lawns, and the holes in rooftops made by manhole covers raining down after being blown up by busted steam pipes, Hilary Duff belted out “Sleigh Ride” on Sirius satellite radio echoing from a computer on the kitchen table. At some point during this whole event an Angel came down from Heaven and told me that it would be a cold day in hell before enough human beings on earth changed their ways of living so that ecological systems would shift back into harmony; harmony that did not upset chains of biodiversity the planet once relied on for balance.
Fortunately for some of us, the heat wasn’t much of a bother at all. In fact, we seemed to be protected from it, while others went up like trees in a bon fire when they stuck an arm out the door to grab a paper off the porch. Turns out that those of us who were okay, at some time received a gift from a man named Jesus. The gift was free, eternal, and would carry us through some tough times, without a scratch. Jesus came back to see how we were doing, just like he said he would. Many of us on earth forgot all about the gift, or tossed it by the wayside after many years, in favor of what we thought might be bigger and better things. For those among us who kept the gift, we’re certainly glad we did.

I like your imagination and your ability to help us see what you see.
A lot of thing I read are to slow for me. This was almost to fast.
I suspect that it would appeal to a young crowd.
