The Church, the true church, is the Body of Christ. Sometimes this true Church is called the “Invisible Church.” Augustine posited that the real Christian Church consists of those “true believers” inside the official church (in Augustine’s time – the Roman Catholic Church) plus those “true believers” outside the official church. In the churches in Augustine’s day, and in our day also, there are those who truly believe and there are also many who are only nominal Christians and not true believers. Those in the official churches who do not really believe are not members of the Invisible Church while those in the official churches who truly believe in God (meaning that they obey God and seek perfection in Christ) are members of the Invisible Church. People outside the official churches who are true believers in God, who are, through God’s grace, sons and daughters of God, are part of the Invisible Church. So, the True Church is comprised only of those Christians who are part of the Invisible Church, the Body of Christ.

It is a matter of the Spirit versus the Flesh. Many in the churches of today are only members of the Church in their Flesh. They see not through the eyes of the Spirit but through the eyes of the Flesh. They are ensconced in Self and do not want to be rid of Self. They do not want to obey God, do not want to carry the Cross of Christ, do not want to give up being “of” the world (do not want to forsake being “of” the world, the flesh, and the devil). In truth, these are the weeds, the tares.

Because the official churches are comprised of humans who are subject to all the usual human weaknesses, the official churches can do nothing for those in them if they do not understand that it is only through the Holy Spirit working within each individual that a person becomes a member of The Church. Only Christ (God) can work in an individual; only the Holy Spirit working in a person makes a person a Christian. No cascades of theology, no mountains of doctrine can save a person. No ritual, no preaching, no fellowship does anything to anyone unless the Holy Spirit is present. The Church is not “The Church” unless it is the Invisible Church.

The title intrigued me, and the Invisible Church is not what I'd expected. This was an interesting entry.

Interesting thoughts! Some parts were a little hard to follow. Keep writing.

I notice that there were no reviews on this entry, I think people are so indoctrinated into the opinions taught in all the "Churches" that they have no ability to see, they are blinded by the outward, the lie that is the teaching of men. But I will give you an A plus for this! Keep writing truth, though you might be hated by men for it, pleasing God is our goal....
