With offertories and special songs,
And Gospel preaching and prayer.
The church is in the hospital,
Where loving family and friends
Are gathered round to bid farewell
To a saint who is heaven bound.
The church is on the battlefield,
Where smoke and noise of bombings
Circle saved ones lying there,
Of soldiers, living and dead.
The church is in the dining room,
Where parents with their children
Will clasp hands all together
And offer up thanksgiving for their meal.
The church is in the shelter house
Where people in this place
Are blessed to have the ministry
Of humble servants, caring for their needs.
The church is in the conference room,
Where business people meet
To seek the applications of God’s Word
That make their labors worthy for His cause.
The church is in the prison cells,
Where martyrs have been placed,
As Christians who are living for their God
And never will refuse to speak their faith.
The church is in the restaurant,
Where men with Bibles opened
Are poring over ancient truths
At their regular study breakfast.
The church is on the mission field,
Where sent ones far from home
Tell stories to the natives there
Of the Savior and His love.
Wherever there are worshippers,
Obedient to God’s will,
Who serve as His ambassadors
Through Jesus’ holy name,
......... There is the church.
