Whirlwind romance, candy hearts, extravagant dreams and glittering jewels.
Stolen glances, passionate embraces, holding hands while strolling under the moonlight.
This is the Valentine of my youth.
Steady romance, a bundle of pink roses, a sweet kiss hello in the morning.
Glances over cups of steaming coffee, solid embraces, rocking on the front porch together.
This is the Valentine of my middle years.
Vine-ripened romance, pots of violets, a crinkled wink and a slow smile.
Glances behind glasses, comforting embraces, shuffling slowly along side by side.
This is the Valentine of my maturity.
Separation
Loneliness
Anxiety
Fear
No
I have none of those.
“My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26 NIV)
Walking streets paved with gold
Reunions with friends and family
Entering a house with many rooms.
Watching the angels…
Loving the scars on His hands
Worshiping His feet
Then hearing the words I long to hear…
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
That is my Valentine for eternity.
