Reflections of life
Such beautiful flowers by the pulpit
In such a magnificient array
Bring back to me, old memories
Of another time, of bygone days
It was here that I first heard the word
Preached so many different ways
The once new varnished pulpit
Now like me, weathered and aged
It was here that I had first believed
And here I accepted the Lord
It was at this altar by the pulpit
Where we prayed in one accord
It was here that I was baptised
According to God’s will
Immersed, came up a brand new man
Making God so much more real
It was here we were joined together
To start a brand new life
No longer just man and woman
But now a husband and a wife
It was here I brought my children
So they might learn of Jesus ways
It was here they received their teaching
So they may never stray
And it’s here I’ll be one last time
As I go to meet the man
My funeral preached from this pulpit
The same place it all began
