Well...there's so much that can be said for people who have been given a pulpit or platform to speak. Many receive encouragement and life-giving "bread" from the Word of God as the minister responsibly opens the Word and explains it. Behind the scenes there are stories of courage and soft and tender hearts even when outwardly he appears to "have it all together".
There is a Pastor who has played such a big role in my life. He is a man with a very big desire to please God. He willingly involves himself in the lives of his parishioners and is often getting his "hands dirty" by stepping away from abstract Theological arguments and listening to their stories. After hearing me out for two years, he has willingly stayed in touch with me for over ten years and if I need to discuss anything with him, he will make himself available. God has used him to mould me and shape me into the person I am today. He has his personal relationship with God, his family issues and general issues which make his life complicated... he's made of flesh and blood. The power of God is that He uses human weakness to prove His strength.
Having stated all of this... I thank God for pastors... people willing to step into leadership and take the "slings and arrows" that come with it. May all of us be reminded to pray often and fervently for our pastors, to treat them with respect and be kind in holding them accountable in their leadership positions. God is building His church and "the gates of hell will not prevail against it".
