I Love Him!
I’ve been raised in a home where the love of Jesus was spoken and given freely. So, was there ever a time when I first gave my life to Him? There was a definite time He spoke to me about how gracious He is, how rules are not as important as my heart being His. I heard His voice within me as clear as a bell even though it was inaudible. That began a conversation with Him that will never end.
My mom and dad began to talk to me about baptism, how it doesn’t save you. Salvation begins in your heart, a relationship with Jesus. Then some people are sprinkled clean. We believe in baptism by immersion. Both show your obedience to Him, and tell the world that you side with Jesus. Baptism by immersion also is a picture of His and my death, burial and resurrection. He physically suffered, died, was buried and came back to life about 2000 years ago. My death, was when I heard His gracious voice and chose His ways over mine. I’m buried by choosing to obey Him rather than my desires. He raises me to new life by placing the power to obey in me. The wonderful perk of my trust in Jesus is that eternity loving Him is His gift to me.
One of our vacations in the sun we had with family and some friends of the family. A friend who is a pastor was going to be baptizing. I knew in my heart that this was the time. I would be with my family and friends. It would be a sign to people on the beach that we believed in Jesus. It also would be in the ocean God created, with no ceiling above except His gentle face watching.
I had no idea how wonderful it would feel to be baptized! Just to be able to say to the world I’m His, He’s mine put a joy in me that permanently deepened my love for Him. Taking a stand like that for my Savior is not embarrassing, difficult, or shameful. It’s just wonderful surrender and shouting…. “I love Him!”
