TOPIC FELLOWSHIP (AMONG BELIEVERS)

TITLE LET US ENJOY BEING TOGETHER

The moving truck came up our drive way. My heart missed a beat. The day had come for us to leave our home, our friends, our neighborhood and our church fellowship. The garage door opened and boxes were moved into the big truck. Soon my comfortable, happy home was just bare walls. As the cleaning crew did their job I went from room to room reflecting over the past years. Several of the neighbors came to wave good bye. With tears flowing down my cheeks I waved back as my husband started the car.

We had decided to relocate to another State after retirement, in order to be near our grandchildren. Parting from friends at work and believers in the church was not easy. Farewells were emotional but we had the assurance that we would meet again on earth or in heaven. Fortunately our circle of well wishers was born again believers who had committed their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. They were not just Christians by name but at some point in their lives had made a personal decision to accept the Lord Jesus as Savior. The Bible teaches us that He came to forgive our sins and give us eternal life.

In our new place we were lonely with no Christian fellowship. Gradually we got acclimatized to our new surroundings and visited a few Christian groups. We found bible believing Christians and started to have fellowship with them. Some were from the local church while others were from the neighborhood. Even though we were from different social and ethnic groups we were companions of the same faith and commitment to Jesus Christ.

His Spirit indwells us and we meet regularly for bible study, prayer and fellowship. It is a blessing to be together, to share and care for one another. There is spiritual bonding and also a lot of practical support shared among the members of our fellowship. Recently one of the members was diagnosed with cancer and was hospitalized. The group stepped in and did all they could to minimize the anxiety, stress, and pain in that family besides praying for them fervently.

In (1 John 1:3) John wrote that our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
In (1 John 1:7) we read, If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light we have fellowship one with the other.

Christian fellowship is what we believers enjoy with one another and our Creator the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, who is in our midst when two or three of us gather together in His Name.

So glad that you found some people to fellowship with!

Note: always capitalize "Bible", even when it's in a phrase like "Bible-believing."

This is a nice little devotional.
