I truly believe that the act of worship comes in as many different forms and varieties as does God’s creation. I recently had my eyes opened to a new form of worship that I had very rarely even thought of; much less to consider the fact that it is truly a form of worship. A couple of months ago, I made a short journey to the northern part of our state with my sister and mother. It was a weekend away just for us girls, little did I know that I would never ever be the same after the experience. We decided that we would go and see The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which we had all attended several times in years past. We did attend the play, and enjoyed it tremendously, but it certainly was not the end of our adventure. Our tickets came with a tour of the Sacred Arts Museum, which is located on the grounds. Although our time was running out, we chose to go ahead and visit the Art Center.

I must tell you it was definitely not what I expected to see. I have always enjoyed beautiful art, but the things that we saw that day were totally amazing. But, the most amazing thing that we experienced was being led through this gallery by a young woman, who spoke with such passion, as she made me for the first time in my life see that each and every painting had a meaning and a reason for being painted. I felt as if I knew what each artist must have felt with every stroke of their brush on each canvas. I was so moved as she spoke of the story behind each of these works of art. It was as if each painting had its own story and each one glorified God in its own unique way. The brilliant colors were indescribable, but they were nothing to compare with the symbolism hidden there by each artist. That day, I realized how beautifully an artist can worship and at the same time draw each and everyone of us into that place of worship as we look on with reverence.

Sounds like you had a very moving experience. It's amazing what "man-created" things can do to bring us closer to God sometimes, isn't it? Keep writing.

Wow! You did a great job describing your experience at the Sacred Arts Center that I could see it AND I WISHED I'D BEEN THERE TO EXPERIENCE IT LIVE! This is such an interesting concept to worship through art. Thanks for this.

It is amazing how God allows us to use your talents to glorify Him! Thank you for sharing this place with us!
