She walked through life in a state of nothingness. People came and went from her life as others passed by her as though she was invisible. What had brought her to this point? Where would she go from here? Emptiness permeated her very soul. She went through the motions of everyday living, yet not being aware of who she had become. To the outside world, she had it all….a loving husband, three intelligent children, and friends who “loved” her. She always did what she was “expected” to do.

Then one day, the storms exploded. All the pain of her past caught up with her – a past which she both ignored and denied. Her everyday emptiness and nothingness became a sea of chaos. Emotions flooded through her as fire ravages the depths of hell. Confusion…. When and how had her life turned so wrong? When had she stopped feeling and living? Had she ever really felt or lived at all?

Oh, but how God turned her world upside down in order to bring her back to Him. Chaos abounded for many years, but slowly God restored her heart and life. He not only gave her permission to feel, but showed her HE had given the feelings to her. Among the many feelings were self-doubt, anger, hatred, frustration, and pain. And more pain. And even more pain.

He took her back to the pain and loneliness of her childhood. He took her back to the place she had stopped living as He had intended her to live. She was a mere child… only three years old…already a broken soul. He led her through the choices of her life. Every choice was made by weighing the expectations of others – her father, mother, teachers, husband and children. Not one choice was made through God’s counsel or her own heart. When she thought all her tears had been spent, then more tears flowed. Would the well ever run dry? Would she ever be able to move forward without being controlled by her past?

Then it happened without any warning. As Psalms 107:29, 30 says, “He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness…” The New Living Translation.

God transformed the chaos into calm. He took the storm that was her life and turned it into a peaceful rainbow. Through God, she learned to forgive and live. Would there be more storms? Absolutely. Would there be trials? More than you could imagine. The difference? Her heart and soul were now guided by her dearest friend. Only through the love and grace of God could her chaos…..be turned to calm.
