They prayed ever so fervently in their small prayer room.
Just one prayer for their dear friend who was so close to doom.
They prayed for a miracle, not doubting in their heart.
All they wanted was his safety, though they were miles apart.
They prayed to the Lord to spare them this time.
Pleading with Him not to take him in his prime.
They prayed so loud and hard, they did not hear the knocking at the door.
And even when Rhoda told them who was knocking, they closed their eyes and prayed some more.
They started to pray, but had to stop in mid-sentence,
Because the knocking at the door grew more intense.
When one of the believers finally opened the door,
There stood Peter whom they all were praying for.
He told everyone in the small prayer room about his miraculous escape.
But they were speechless and all they could do was to stand there and gape.
