Topic: Mothers (05/02/05)

By Mary Ku

A mother who is faithful to God and her family is so much blessed by God. I can point out my mother as a blessed one too. She is working as an english teacher in a certain private school in hometown in Pagadian,Philippines.
She really made a great sacrifice in order to let us all finish in college. As what she said, "I have no treasures and properties that you can carry on in the future, but only through your education, you may have a better life. It is
a treasure that you can possess anywhere you go. Just imagine, we are four kids studying in college degrees.

Sometimes, I can see her crying because of our financial hardups, but it did not mean that she will give up everything. One time, I asked her that I will temporarily stop in my studies and find a job to help her too. But she never
allow me to do it, instead, she encouraged me to go on studying regardless of what the other people say about us. Some folks even scold her for not paying our debts, but she did not hold grudges to them.

But I do admire her for being so helpful to the poor and needy. She cannot refuse to give when someone is in dire need. Even just a penny in her pocket, she still take it to lend it to the poor who aproached her for help.

Her greatest dream is that: we could finish in college, get married to a Christian too, and have stable jobs. Believe me, its all by the grace of God, that dream of her become true. Those painful years had gone, and
now she is happy to reap what he had sown.

In Psalms 126:5-6 it says,"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him".

My mother always reflect to the life of Job, his ultimate pain and suffering. But at the end, God blessed him for the rest of his life. This made an encouragement to her during those past years.

King David also commanded us to rely to God always. In his book of Psalms 46:1-3, it goes:

vs. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

vs. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

vs. Though the waters thereof roar and troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah

Now, she is so happy for us. With her smart grandchildren besides her, it made her older days be more joyful and fun. I am sure it was all the blessings from God. Thus, we continue to glorify, serve, and give thanks to Him as long
as we live.

In James 1: 12, the scripture says,"Blessed is the man that enjureth tempation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him".

I hope this message would encourage those mothers who also suffered pains and made all sacrifices in bringing up their children. Blessed are you for being faithful to God and your family especially to your kids.

Your mother stands out as a wise person and is a good role model for her children to follow. It's amazing how many Bible truths there are for us to follow that will enhance our lives. Your mother found this out.
