Angels of Hope

Extreme anger
Passionate displeasure
Bad attitude
Go back Ė NEVER

They never loved me
They never shared
Did they even know me?
They never cared

Hopelessness rules
Weariness reigns
Despair and discouragement
Who can I blame?

No where to sleep
Emotions unstable
Wandering aimlessly
Homeless Ė my label

Mouth-watering aroma
Whatís up ahead?
A place for a feed
Some soup and some bread

Stomach is screaming
Shall I give in?
Fear is so strong
But hunger must win

Comfort and warmth
Pulls from the night
Kind friendly faces
Angels of light

Darkness dispersed
Makes me forget
All of my pain
And all the neglect

Encouraging words
Gracious and wise
Making the tears
Flow from my eyes

Help from an angel
With whom I confided
Itís time to go home
Now angerís subsided

As it is national missing personís week in Australia, this is the perfect time to honor all the volunteers of the soup kitchens around our country.
They really are angels of light to the 16,000 or so missing and homeless.
We can all pray, but the act of serving in this instance is more powerful.

Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. For faith without works is dead.

Very good poem and a wonderful tribute to those who seek the lost. Your words are descriptive. Nice job

I had a little trouble finding the rhythm in the first stanza, but after that, the flow seemed smooth.
Nice descriptive words - I could feel the emotions as if I were the character.
Great reminder, too.
Thanks for sharing!

I like the depiction here and it is so true, there are so many hurting people who face homelessness or are missing. My heart tore for the mc in this piece. Keep up your writing. Good job!:0)
