It saddens my soul—that is the correct display of the word. Sadness attempts to drive the emotions of one seeking happiness and making it almost impossible to overcome in that it takes your breath away. Should you want to breath, the thoughts of your circumstances might arise and whisper, “Being sad is better than trying to set things right or make it better. It’s so much easier to be sad…” Breathing is not even a relevant concern at this point as much as is living. For to live, a sad disposition cannot be held accountable for that which results. In fact, it is the character of one who is bound by sadness that is at fault not knowing that character concerns sadness in that it might attempt to overthrow its power over the soul. And where there is character, there is God, and God needs no explanation. For prayer and fasting in Him that loved us empowers character to drive away that which binds the soul. For greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. And he, Sadness, in his most powerful state, controls and manipulates to the point where he has drained his victim of all its worth. A gracious word is never spoken from the subject, for where is his breath to speak it?
