Blessed Are the Sad

Blessed are the happy.
SUV. Two point four. Perfect house
Complete with great room, picket fence,
And a silent loneliness.
Desperate.

Blessed are the beautiful.
Size ten, size six, size two.
But sheís gaining nothing and losing more.
Very, very haute couture.
Hungry.

Blessed are the rich.
Rolex, Jag, Mercedes-Benz -What canít
Money buy? Ė A private jet, the penthouse view,
And trophy wife, number one and two.
So poor.

Blessed are the strong.
Stupid thing, canít you do anything right?
Shut up; stop crying; do what I tell you to -
If you know whatís good for you.
Weak.

Blessed are the free.
Runaway; hitch a ride; see the world.
But lose your way, and youíll sell your soul.
This prodigal isnít coming home.
Lost.

Blessed are the sad.
Miserable, beaten down, and broken.
Soon they will be comforted. For of all men,
Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed.

Very clever. I liked the single word/short last lines of each stanza. I'm always comforted by the passage in the Bible that talks about how there will be no tears in heaven. Well done!

This is by FAR my favorite on this level, and although I've not read the other levels yet, this may be my favorite this week. So, so excellent.

Love your poem! The format, the message inside each stanza, all very powerful. GREAT ending.
