Your Hand

I can remember your hand outstretched
Almost from the beginning;
You held it out and taught me
So many things, especially about God and sinning-

I was very reluctant to touch your hand
For very many years;
And I know this act of stubbornness
Caused you a lot of tears-

Still you continued to hold your hand out
To teach me it's okay to trust;
Yet I continued to turn towards the world
In all its temptations and lust-

As time went on, your hand still out,
I've touched it now and then;
And you taught me that thereís not always
An answer to the questions why and when-

Now that I'm older, I can remember always praying to God,
Show me you love me; give me some sort of sign;
And one night He whispered softly, I have my child,
For it's been your Motherís outstretched hand all this time-

Simply beautiful. You really captured the difficulty we can have trusting, in accepting love and most of all the difficulty recognizing when Jesus is trying to reach out to us! Again, beautiful. Thank-you for sharing your heart through your writing.

I agree with the last comment. A lovely poem that shows how your mother's hand reached out across the stubborness to provide you with access to your Creator.

Hi Lisa. Just a quick note to encourage you and let you know that although your beautiful poem didn't actually receive an award this week, it did make it into the semi-finals for the Level 1 Challenge. Well done! You're definitely on the "write" track. With love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
