“I rejoice at Your word, as one who finds great treasure.” Psalm 119:162 NKJV

For weeks I was busy studying this beautiful Psalm.
This is the longest chapter from the Bible and very close to the centre of the Bible. The 176 verses are divided in 22 strophes of 8 verses. When you read this Psalm in Hebrew you will discover that each of these 22 strophes start with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet to begin with the Aleph, Beth etc.
The writer of this Psalm had such an incredible love for the LORD and His word and was able to express this in many different and eloquent ways.
One morning I read the above mentioned verse and I really could say “amen”.

The newspaper the Jerusalem Post came out that particular morning with a front page article about a big treasure that had been found in Caesarea: 79 golden coins from 1086 AD. Archaeologists from the Antiquities Authorities were excited about the find, the director of the excavations at Caesarea said: “he is still overwhelmed by the discovery.” It was the equivalent to about seven years of income in those days.

Recently another newspaper International Herald Tribune came out with the news that a ship which has been on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean for 4 centuries contained thousands upon thousands coins of silver and gold and finally they were able with very sophisticated equipment to salvage them, about 500.000 thousand pieces. The 17-ton haul could fetch upwards of $500 million from collectors and investors. No wonder there was a lot of excitement and happiness, to say the least!

How happy, excited, overwhelmed are you and I with the treasures that are hidden in the word of God? You do not need sophisticated equipment to find them, some are right at the surface, some are more hidden but all you need is to pray that God will open your eyes to see them and to store them in your heart and share them with others.
Treasures more precious than silver, gold or diamonds; treasures of love, hope, faith, healing, understanding, wisdom, comfort, encouragement, happiness but even most precious of all: the Saviour Jesus Christ Himself.

I am, how about you?
