“Hey, Dad can you come here for a minute.” Abe asked from his bed.
“Sure son,” Adam smiled. “What can I do for you today?
“Well I have a few questions, if you have the time, that is,” Abe smiled he could tell Dad
his father was in a good mood today. The seeds were all planted. “I was wondering about the animals names. You said you would tell me one day why you named them certain names. like the hippo.
“Well, now that one was pretty easy,” Dad replied. “When he walks all you can see are those hips swinging from side to side. He looks like a pot of food on the camp fire, so it’s a hippo pot a must.’
Abe chuckled this was going to be a hoot.” O.K. what about the serpent when did you start calling him a snake.”
“Ah yes, the slithering forked tongue, always going around going sssss. One day it came to the back door frightening your mother. She grabbed her broom and said the next time he ssss’d at her she would bake him in a cake. Now every time she sees him she yells at him “snake!”
“What about the tad poles”
“Now that one is an interesting one, every time I went to the pool of water they were swimming around like crazy, one day I went to see them and they had what I thought were little poles sticking out of them. God explained they were growing legs, but since I thought it was a pole I called them tad poles. I take it your really bored right now huh son?”
“Yes Dad, two more days to lie in bed, I wish I had listened to you and Mom and not jumped off into the dark end of the pool.”
‘Well you know son the choices we make always come with things attached called consequences. Your mother and I found that out. God gave us the right to choose what we do. He tells us what our choices should be and than we get to decide to listen or not.”
“Dad if I had listened to you and Mom about there being big rocks under the water my leg would not have been broken. Staying in bed not moving for six weeks is awful.”
“Well I better get back to work, I can do one more name now and I will stop by later tonight. Do you have one that can’t wait? Dad said with his big smile.
“How about the lion than” Abe grinned.
“I think you know this one he’s always ly--ing around just like someone else I know have to go now I love you.” Adam chuckled as he left the room this will keep him busy for a few more days.
