Special Delivery

I remember looking at the clock. It was 11:30 pm on Christmas Eve. I was excited, yet I was somewhat anxious and concerned. I looked at my husband and he gave me an encouraging smile. I looked at the masked man beside me and asked, "Will it be here Christmas Eve or will it be Christmas Day?" He responded, "It will be close either way, we'll just have to wait and see."

It was at this moment that I was rolled into an icy cold room, with bright lights everywhere. There were seven other people already in the room that were also wearing masks. This was not where I thought I would be on Christmas Eve. Our three other children were at home with their grandparents waiting to hear from us. Waiting to see if we would be home and they could open their Christmas presents. Waiting to see if everything was okay.

Things began to happen quickly. They were strapping me down and putting a mask on my face and then there was darkness.

As I began to wake up, the first thing I did was to look at the clock. It was a little after midnight. It was now Christmas Day. I was very thirsty and very uncomfortable. Someone was pushing on my stomach and I just wanted them to stop. I said, "Please stop, you're hurting me." They replied in firm, yet kind voices, "We have to do this for just a little while longer, try to rest." I couldn't rest, I had so many questions, so many concerns. But I couldn't seem to stay awake or concentrate. I was trying to stay awake, yet I just could not. Several hours later I woke up in a different room and the first thing I saw was the face of my wonderful handsome husband. At first I didn't know where I was and I didn't remember what had happened. Then reality began to slowly fade in my muddled mind. Then the questions and the concerns began, "What happened, where, when?" My husband came closer to me and began to smile as he said, "We have a beautiful son, he weighed four pounds and nine ounces. He's tiny and having problems breathing, but the doctors think he is going to fine in a few weeks."

What a relief, what joy! Our fourth child was suppose to be born on February 9th, but because of complications was delivered by C-section on Christmas Eve night at 11:43 pm. What a special delivery package our family had that night. Our other three children said this was the best Christmas present they ever had. This was quite a Christmas for our family.

Praise God for the "littlest" miracles! Oh, how the Lord must love showing His love through the most tiny of babies!

what tiny packages miracles often arrive in! I remember I was visiting my home town and my favorite niece was expecting. I knew she wasn't due until after I left but thought maybe it would make my Jan birthday! she had our beautiful little girl on Christmas day and I kidded her it was just for me!

We have something in common - I delivered a baby girl on Christmas day. What a wonderful gift from God. Your story hooked me from the very beginning. There are a couple of choppy sentences that can be ironed out a little. Overall the article is very good. Submit others and I will become your greatest critic.
