“Joshua Moore I have chosen you for a special task. I will meet with you on Brag Moor by Flights Top at a time of your choosing.”
After several days Josh summoned up the courage to make that journey to the high point on the Brag. He was made even more apprehensive because this meeting place had a reputation for full-moon-coven meetings.
He waited expectantly, but after almost an hour he was beginning to think he must have got things wrong and had decided to make a retreat. There was no significant person in sight – just someone in the mid distance who looked like a tramp or poacher. As the stranger approached, he raised a hand signalling for Josh to come over to meet him.
As Josh approached he saw that this strange fellow had what looked like a parchment, in his hand, rolled into a scroll. The man didn’t say a word – just handed the scroll to Josh and disappeared.
The thought of having this special message in his possession both thrilled and scared him. He felt it was too sacred to open and read, but knew he must. He thought how important it must be to have been delivered to him by a disappearing messenger – obviously, an angel in disguise!
“One who meets here now in darkness was once the apple of my eye. You are my chosen vessel to bring her back into my light at the next full moon. Do not open the second inner scroll. It must be handed to my fallen handmaid.”
Josh knew exactly what it meant and the thought of it terrified him. He had always been wary of the dark side of things – but to have to venture into what seemed like enemy territory was something he could do without.
On the next full moon Josh and his mate Kev, who was a bit of an expert in cults and deliverance, set off together to the Brag. Kevin had been intrigued by Josh’s story and account of the heavenly visitation. Kevin had brought along his night vision binoculars so they could decide from a distance what action to take.
They heard voices and then witnessed some strange rite and circle dancing. The two were at a loss as to what to do next. Then they heard a whisper in the breeze saying, “Go over to them – I am with you.”
In much trepidation they moved toward the occult band. As Josh and Kevin came nearer they were aware of a strange presence that was with them – and a glow all around. Pandemonium broke out among the strange group. And they began to hasten off the moor.
They noticed that one figure was still there as if transfixed – The shadow of what seemed like a young lady with hair flowing in the breeze. When they came near it was as if she was stone.
The voice they had heard in the wind spoke softly, and said, “Fix the scroll in her hand and leave.”
Josh and Kev often wondered what happened to that beautiful young woman (the Lord’s handmaid) who they were ordered to leave on Brag Moor.
