Going over last minute things that Jesse thought would be pleasant to have for the holiday in her mind.
Her husband had left for work and she was busy with household chores and tending to her toddler son and infant daughter much of the morning.
Thankfully naptime had arrived, now she would be able to organize her thoughts and maybe even rest a little herself.
After a bit her son had decided he was not so tired after all so they spent some time together. Jesse looked up at the clock and realized how late it was getting, "Let's go check on the baby,” she had said to her son. As they proceeded down the hall to the room, she began to feel as though something was terribly wrong. The closer she came to her daughter the more apparent it became that her daughter was not breathing. After several attempts to revive her daughter with no results she knelt beside her lifeless baby.
No longer were the details of Christmas important or anything else for that matter her daughter was gone!
The days leading to the funeral were taking its toll as Jesse's body, mind and emotions began to shut down. Life as she knew it had changed forever!
What is the point in this life she wondered often as she ached to hold her daughter again, to see her smile and hear her voice? What possible purpose could there be for my daughter dying?
Several days after the funeral she sat on the couch in her home, her husband with her as they cried together. This now how become a common event in their lives now, between hospital runs due to the shutting down of her body, she was losing the battle in her reasons to live and her body was voluntarily preparing for the surrender.
As she was sitting there in her broken world she heard her husband say, "There can't be a God" the words shuttered through her body, partly because she had similar thoughts but mostly because if she believed that, than there truly was no hope. No hope of seeing her daughter again, no hope of living and feeling again...no God meant no anything!
With a strength she had never experienced she heard herself say "There is a God and our daughter is with Him, we will see her again through Him, please don't take that away from me by saying that again."
As she finished speaking warmth filled her from inside out, it was then in that moment that she began to realize God was with her, hugging her, bringing peace that far passes all understanding.
The healing so began with this knowing that once and for all there is a God, He does care and He is giving me a new life, a new hope in Him.
The Lord brought life to this lifeless situation, hope where hope had all but disappeared. He brought a peace that Jesse's daughter is safe with Him and one day because of her new life in Him, Jesse will be with them both this is her new hope.
