History. His story. Who’s story? I suppose it would be God’s, don’t you? To be honest, His story is the only one that covers all of history. Ironic, then, that for Him, history doesn’t really exist. At least, not as we know it. For Him, time is a continuum. He can not only turn back the clock, but the sundial as well. Time machine? Oh no thank you, that won’t be necessary. God can take the planet (universe) back a few hours to prove He means what He says, or give an army a few more hours to turn the tide. How in the world? Well…

“I AM” is pretty much the way He defines history. His story is so inclusive to the time line that when people ask if He was, and is, and is to come, He makes it simple and says I AM. I AM for the past, not I was. Take that in now, and see what kind of smoke comes out your ears. I AM for the present. Now, that at least makes sense, even grammatically. I AM in a future, you cannot even comprehend. I AM when the world ceases to spin, because I AM before it existed to spin. Now is your head spinning? Mine is. . . .

Still want to try and wrap your mind around it? Well He created the world and the sun and moon and stars after He had been around forever—literally. (Its okay, you don’t have to try and go there.) Now consider that since our earth measures time by how long this old ball goes around the sun, He created time as well. So, He’s got everything under His control then, now and ….

Tell the truth. Does it scare you? Does it scare you that God is not only the strongest force on earth or anywhere, but also is everywhere, and has control of time? When I say control, I am talking about control over everything ceasing to be. Keep in mind that this is the God Who C. S. Lewis told us, through the great sage, Mr. Beaver, isn’t safe. Ah, but the rest of his statement is this: “He is good.” That’s a comfort to be sure. Nonetheless, . . .

Our ways are not His ways. We are so egocentric. We constantly ask: “What? Why? How?” What we are really asking most of the time is: "What about me? Is it good for me?" But remember, it is His story, not ours. He’s the Potter and we are just the clay, literally, if you will recall. So He gets to do whatever He wants. With His story, history, us, this world. That really is scary. . .

Rest easy now. He loves us. He, Who is the Creator and Controller of time, broke through the time continuum portal and entered it for thirty-three long years. He watched the sun He created rise and set, day after day, just so He could die. Why? For us, so that when time ceased to matter, we could spend all of it with Him. Can He really love us that much? After all our history. . . .

Yes. Because it’s His story that matters. And He is history: past, present, future. However that works for Him. . . .
