Thank You Lord

As Haley sat there in the stall, she thought how weird she would look if someone were to try and come in. She pushed the thought aside however, and started to think. She wasn’t sure why she had blown up like that, but the damage was done and she couldn’t take back what she had said. Her overwhelming sense of guilt and anger had forced her to retreat into the bathroom and there she sat.

She contemplated calling her parents to come and pick her up, but they were both busy at work. She weighed her options; there weren’t many. She began to pray. For fifteen minutes she prayed for God to give her strength. She knew she had to go back out and face her friends before they got even angrier with her, but she didn’t want another confrontation.

She was afraid to leave the security of her stall, where no one could see her, and she could sit alone undisturbed. She also prayed for forgiveness. She knew she should have kept her composure, but she hadn’t been able to. She was still angry but at the same time she realized that the manner in which she expressed her anger wasn’t the best choice. She prayed for her anger to subside and she prayed merely for God to help her. After she had said amen and sat for a few more seconds in solitude, the anger and frustration began to subside. She felt an odd sense of peace and knew she was able to go out and face the rest of the world. Before she unlocked the door, she said simply, “Thank you Lord, Amen.”

I thought you did an excellent job of telling the story. Of giving this piece the human voice of regret. What a witness piece to remind us we have to step away from our anger, go back to the beginning and ask God to heal us---again...

A very true slice of life and a good example of what God will do if we give Him a chance.

A nice write and lesson for us all...when we can admit we've been wrong and ask our Savior for HIS forgiveness, maturity blooms and He will help us continue to grow. I enjoyed this and at this time in my life, I can sure relate to it.

I liked this. Very real.Often we *do* need to retreat even if it's into a bathroom stall. Nicely written, I enjoyed reading it.

The peace of God that passeth all understanding is examplified so beautifully in your story. Good Job!
