Suspense is Killing Me

Who did it, what was the scheme,
What was the motive, where was the scene,
What was the weapon that the killer used,
Was there a treasure, what are the clues?

What are the details, check every fact,
All leads must be followed this mystery to crack.
If someone is lying, will the truth be told,
Can the mystery be solved before the trail gets cold?

Now, into the story, our hero appears,
Already heís working, impressing his peers.
Heís carefully combing the crime scene to find
If there is a chance DNA stayed behind.

Scour the crime scene, study every clue,
Thereís got to be something that doesnít ring true,
Check out the time frames and alibis,
With just one slip, heíll discover the lies!

Was there a witnessÖthere simply must be,
Surely someone took notice, so what did they see?
Follow this lead, check out that tip,
This mysteryís got me firm in itís grip.

So how it will end, Iíve got to discover,
Iíll turn up the lamp and pull up the cover.
Iíve got to keep reading, íthough itís half-past-three,
I canít close the book---the suspense is killing me!

Oh, I liked this poem a lot! :) You did a good job with the structure and mechanics of the piece, and the story it told was so true to life! Well-done!

Loved this poem! And right on for the mystery genre. Exceptionally well done.

This is just delightful. My favorite stanza:
"So how it will end, Iíve got to discover,
Iíll turn up the lamp and pull up the cover.
Iíve got to keep reading, íthough itís half-past-three,
I canít close the book---the suspense is killing me!"

It's a creative take on the mystery topic as well.
