We view sewing as something only women do. By just slapping two or three pieces of fabric together you form some piece of clothing. However, it is much more detailed than that. You choose the right fabric, in the style, the colors, even the type of fabric itself. Then you choose what you want to make, whether a shirt, pants, scarf, dress, whatever. You cut the fabric into the shapes needed to make the perfect article that you are working on.

You also must choose the proper thread and the proper sewing pattern in which you will use to piece the fabric together. If you use the wrong type of thread, it can catch or bunch up on you while sewing. If you use the wrong type of stitching type it can also mess up your project.

How does this simple illustration apply to life? I am glad you asked….when choosing to things in life you cannot just look at the beginning stages, but look at the whole picture. You choose a mate solely on looks and you’re in for a big let down when they don’t turn out to be what you expected. You must look at the heart, personality, how they treat and act around other people. How they treat their authorities. Because if you do not choose carefully in a mate, job, house, car, or whatever the case may be, just like the outfit, you will get bunches and loose ends, awkward looking, and a product that you are not completely happy with.

They say, “life is too short to wait around forever”, but life is also too short to waste happiness on something you really didn’t want in the first place, but settled for anyway. Take your time, look at all the fabric, see what it is that you want, then look for those “fabrics” that you know will work in your life.

Great analogy. I would like to see this expanded more. Good job.
