She picked up her needle and started to knit;
“Knit one, pearl two”
Two months ago, she remembered, learning how to do it;
It happened when she had the accident.
The accident took her sight, and she felt sorry;
Sorry for her state of affairs.
Affairs were set in order, and she prepared to die;
Die and separate from God;
“God would never want you to be like this, dear one.” She heard;
“I heard that. Who’s there?” She called.
“I called, Dear Heart. Don’t you remember me?” He softly said.
Said she softly, “Jesus, I do.”
“Do let me cuddle you then just like a newborn babe.”
A babe born anew.
Anew let me fill you with things to do for others.”
“Others? What can I do for them?” She asked. “I’ve lost my sight.”
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. I will help.”
Help came the next day, when a friend came to see her;
Her gift was a set of knitting needles and yarn in marked boxes;
Boxes with symbols raised;
Raised enough that she eventually learned what color was within;
Within it she found a craft she could do, and her life was rebuilt;
Rebuilt upon the foundation of God.
God was in her mind as she knitted;
Knitted a blanket of red and yellow;
Yellow for the sunshine of a new birth;
Birthed in blood so red – God’s new child.
Before she went home, anonymously she left;
Left at the nurse’s station, a blanket and bible verse for a needy child.
Child after child since has received a gift;
A gift of love and caring;
A caring woman left the gift is all they know;
Known to none, but to God, yes.
Yes, she will be blessed.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my POWER is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12v9)
