on the table one day
And started to read it
while the kids were at play
With minor disruptions
from the noise right outside
She hoped she could finish
the sentence this time
This book was so intriguing,
it was hard to put down
But she had to get ready
as they were going to town
I know! She exclaimed,
an idea came to mind
I’ll take the book with me
and read as we dine
But dinner was noisy,
the kids wanting to fight
So she put the book down
and would read it that night
But as she was leaving,
a much hurried affair
She left it just lying
in her soft cushioned chair
When at last she was home
and the kids tucked away
She found the book missing
with a look of dismay
The bell rang loudly
so she ran to the door
And there stood and old man
who really looked poor
His eyes had been crying,
it was easy to see
And he told her this story
about Emma Lee
He married his sweetheart,
they were young and in love
But God had took her
to the Heaven's above
His Emma was a saint
all the kids called her Mother
And she carried this book
as she shared Christ with others
He had been so depressed
and the blame was this book
He was mad, he was hurt
and let Satan set his hook
As he went out to dinner
he was placed at her seat
And he saw the book lying
right down by his feet
It was the same one his Emma
had gave her life for
The Savior, His stories
and so much more
It was then that it hit him
this book wasn’t just left
It was planted by God,
to reveal His Glorious self
He had prayed at the table
with the book in his hand
As the peace overtook him
and made him a new man
As he softly put the Bible
back into her hands
He thanked her for leaving
it for this old man
As she turned out the lights
and went up to sleep
She kneeled and thanked God
for the words that He keeps
The old man, he died
in his sleep that same night
And now he’s rejoicing
with Emma in his sight
So remember when reading
this book full of stories
To share it, and live it,
will bring God the Glory
