The Art of Worship

One day the more creative side of me
Decided oh yes! An artist I will be!
I bought a canvas, paints and more
Scattered them all over my kitchen floor

There were fine brushes of every type
Beautiful colors of paint so ripe
Orange and blues and hues of pink
More colors than I could ever think

I took the canvas so stark and bare
Splashed on some color and said a prayer
After hours of painting my canvas bright
An artist I’ll be, but not tonight!

I decided I’ll sing a haunting song
I’ll practice faithfully in the early dawn
In my church I’ll sign up for a solo
But when I asked, the director said “oh no!”

I decided I fancied now to be an actress
It really wouldn’t take a lot of practice
I was already known as the ‘drama queen’
By my little boy - who just turned eighteen

I went downtown to the local theater
Put my shiny quarter in a parking meter
Tried out for the lead in the local play
Before I could finish, they said “no way!”

I’ll just play the piano! I smugly swore
So I hurried off to the piano store
I bought a beauty, a black baby grand
Why, I might even start a Christian band!

Possibilities are endless-it’s an artsy world
I won’t give up now, my banner’s unfurled!
I’ll find my niche by God’s good grace
I’ll search and search, and cover every base!

“Daughter slow down,” said a still small voice
“What I want you to do is……stop and rejoice
Look at the canvas I painted in the sky
I gave you such beauty in plentiful supply

Listen to the birds sing their glorious song
Bask in My sunrise in the early morning dawn
See how I make the dew to kiss the rose
Behold the moon in the night, how it brightly glows

Renew your mind, your eyes and your heart
I AM the Artist – of your life, I will chart
You’re running to and fro – it’s really absurd
And you never take the time to read My Word

When was the last time you called out My name?
All you’re concerned with is seeking your fame.
Be still and know that I alone am your Lord
I won’t be patient forever, I won’t be ignored!

The most beautiful art that I ever created
Is your worship that makes my heart so elated
Fall on your knees, give Me all the glory
The art of worship is your true life story……”

Wow! I really like this. Catchy and it flows. I especially like the ending how the person sees the importance of true worship. Keep up the good work! Love it!

This scenario is easy to relate to and the poem was easy and fun to read. You did a nice job
